SOLPEX IOP5: 1240 UTC Update

Although less widespread than earlier, lake-effect convection continues to pop up over the southeastern portion of the lake.

The area of action lies near confluence between westerly flow over the western portion of the lake and northeasterly flow along the Wasatch Front.

This flow pattern occurs frequently during these events and is not well understood.  I'm looking forward to seeing the sounding from our east side site which should provide some insight into the depth of the northwesterly flow, which may be related to flow blocking by the Wasatch Mountains.
