New paper on Sierra-front interactions

Recent studies have shown that strong cold fronts frequently develop downstream of the Sierra Nevada and move across northern Utah.  Many of these fronts produce dramatic weather changes along the Wasatch Front and are often quite spectacular as they enter the Salt Lake Valley.

Greg West and I have just submitted a paper (downloadable here) that illustrates how the Sierra influence the development of these cold fronts.   Feel free to add comments about the paper to this post or send them to me directly.

Congrats to Greg on some outstanding work.
