John Lennon and weather

Today marks the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's tragic murder by Mark David Chapman in New York City.

There is no doubt that Lennon is one of the most important and influential song writers in modern history, but few know of his brief stint as a weather forecaster.

I suspect we are all fortunate that Lennon was a musician and not a meteorologist.

Lennon is also credited with the writing for the song Rain (lyrics here), which appeared on the B-side of Paperback Writer. For you younger folks out there, the "B-side" refers to one side of a 7-inch vinyl record that people used to use to listen to music.  Often the A-side contained the expected hit single, but many artists had big B-side hits.
