Midwest natives know that skiing on ice-covered landfills builds character. If the landfill/resort is near a Giordano's, your apres-ski meal is indeed awesome pizza.
I've never "suffered" through a midwest winter, but have many fond memories of downing pizza after a day of skiing frozen granular in sub-zero weather in upstate NY and Vermont. The food always tastes better when your whole body is thawing out and has that post-hypothermic feel to it.
