The 75th Anniversary of D-Day

The Allied invasion of Normandy began on this day (June 6) 75 years ago.  The military operation was the largest seaborne invasion in history, and weather forecasting was vitally important for its success.  I've blogged about this previously (see The D-Day Weather Forecast), but recommend that history buffs consider reading the book below by Sverre Petterssen, who was instrumental in producing an accurate D-Day forecast.
