Happy 4th from the Great State of Alaska

You really haven't lived until you have experienced the 4th of July parade in Ketchikan, AK.  It opens with someone from the Eichner family flying the American flag over downtown in a helicopter (above), a tradition that just seems to fit the town perfectly.  Then, you can almost always count on wind and rain, but that never stopped anyone in southeast Alaska from having a good time.

Today's parade was no exception as a steady rain did not dampen the spirits of the attendees.

Indeed it was a day better fit for ducks than people.

Even our friends from the Great White North joined the festivities.

And a little local color always makes for a few laughs.

Back to snow and mountain weather tomorrow.
