One of the best places to catch a baseball game is Seattle's Safeco field, home of the Seattle Mariners, in July and early August.
Although the stereotype suggests wet weather, Seattle has a remarkably dry, comfortable climate in the summer. During the month of July, the average rainfall is only 0.75 inches, with an average high of 75ºF and low of 55ºF. The odds of a pleasant evening for a 7 PM first pitch are quite high in July and early August. And, if Mother Nature throws a curveball, there's always the retractable roof, although the stadium is far more attractive when the roof is open.
After years of basement dwelling, the Mariners finally have a competitive team too. Plus, while we were there, we enjoyed a "concert" by Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready.
