Batten Down the Hatches

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Salt Lake County and Northwest Utah County until 6 PM.

The radar loop below shows numerous intense convective cells spreading into Salt Lake County.  Be smart.  Seek shelter.  I'll be delaying my bike ride home and working late.

  1. This was the best multi-cell thunderstorm event around here so far this year. I see that around an inch or more of rain fell in much the heaviest core area, in a band extending from the Oquirrh Mountains up to around Farmington and Layton. This must have just missed the SLC airport by a couple of miles (or less), with very heavy rain just to the west of there.
