Return to the Tug

Everything that I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch
I'm too much...
I leave the pollution and propaganda of the Salt Lake Valley behind today (don't worry about the air quality because it is better than it was in the 70s and all the pollution from the fireworks just slides off the edge of the flat Earth...).  The inversion is, however, getting in one last parting shot in as we're stuck at the Salt Lake Airport in dense fog!

We need to get out today because the Snow Miser is going to be visiting the Tug Hill Plateau big time in a couple of days.  Here's a snippet from the latest forecast discussion from the National Weather Service forecast office in Buffalo, NY (my bold emphasis):

"AS WE PROGRESS THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING...THE COLD AIR WILL DEEPEN WHILE A WELL ALIGNED 270-290 FLOW (PENDING YOUR LAKE OF CHOICE) WILL BECOME ESTABLISHED. THIS WILL TARGET THE WESTERN SOUTHERN TIER AND PARTICULARLY SITES NEAR AND JUST NORTH OF THE TUG HILL PLATEAU FOR A PROLONGED HEAVY LAKE SNOW EVENT WITH SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW ANTICIPATED."

Most of our equipment should be running, but it's nice to have a day or two to make sure all is working correctly before the lake-effect dumpage begins.  Plus, I'm looking forward to breathing clean air and seeing snow falling from the sky again.
