Niseko‘s lifts go up to 4,000 feet and surely snowfall within the ski area is more than 480. According to SnowJapan reports since 2003 the Niseko average is more like 570 and it too is near the base of the ski area.Tony Crockerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13361506562454466953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-49818589243898474072018-01-25T09:06:40.427-07:002018-01-25T09:06:40.427-07:00Kutchan is around 480". Thus, Hokkaido (and northwest Honshu) get a highly concentrated snow accumulation season, with that huge average in January. Alta has no month like that climatologically. Alta is supposedly around 500 inches, though including Sep, Oct, May and June may change that. Eyeballing, they look about the same, though Jan, in particular this January, is a good time to go to Hokkaido--I know four groups of Wasatch refugees, leaving, there, and returning, all w big smiles.Peter Donnernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-27734435909465295912018-01-25T07:35:59.286-07:002018-01-25T07:35:59.286-07:00Interesting write-up.
