Another interesting note is the high benches in southen Utah County get as much snow as Salt Lake and Davis county.Scot Chipmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17650190017905455606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-67043462348538167022015-10-19T18:39:58.675-06:002015-10-19T18:39:58.675-06:00This is something that my group has discussed and ...This is something that my group has discussed and speculated about for some time, although we've yet to do the research to shed insights. It seems like as the coverage decreases it takes on more of a north-south orientation, so more northerly winds would be better to form the bands, which in turn affect more the west valley and Oquirrhs. At least from what I've seen the past couple of winters, the Oquirhhs and that Mountain View corridor seem to have been hit more with lake enhanced showers than the downtown to east bench areas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-21036821309720166392015-10-19T18:23:09.375-06:002015-10-19T18:23:09.375-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06499650099772473994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-40863926342420643162015-10-19T12:54:15.924-06:002015-10-19T12:54:15.924-06:00When the GSL is smaller it is also much more shall...When the GSL is smaller it is also much more shallow, which reduces its total heat capacity by a large amount. I would think that this would also reduce the potential for lake effect, at least during the fall and early winter. In the spring, however, a very shallow lake would heat up much faster during a brief warm spell than it would with deeper water, so maybe in some situations its smaller size could contribute to lake effect (?)Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02814313368731066590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-71925204630250351292015-10-19T10:17:04.843-06:002015-10-19T10:17:04.843-06:00Yes, it happens from time to time, but is less fre...Yes, it happens from time to time, but is less frequent than the GSL effect.Jim Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15799757451626876963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-47019059236363989712015-10-19T10:16:13.682-06:002015-10-19T10:16:13.682-06:00Is there evidence of lake effect snow events from ...Is there evidence of lake effect snow events from the much smaller Utah Lake?Jirkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17054460195302171885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-33603317585389588062015-10-19T10:15:13.080-06:002015-10-19T10:15:13.080-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Jirkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17054460195302171885noreply@blogger.com
