The article above, however, is relative to Cottonwood winters.Jim Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15799757451626876963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-36787888471025426482016-04-03T21:14:06.463-06:002016-04-03T21:14:06.463-06:00A little below average or OK here still means a to...A little below average or OK here still means a ton of very good skiing. The only ski years I can say were truly bad in my backcountry memory (10 years) were 2006-2007, 2011-2012, and obviously last year 2014-2015. I think those are roughly the three worst years in the last 30 in terms of SWE and they all came in the last 10 which isn't a good sign. Even then I thought last year skied alright. I got a lot of good days last year. The truly horrible years are the ones where the snow doesn't come until late like 2011-2012. The spigot eventually turned on but not until late January after half the season was done, and then got warm early to boot. In water terms 2011-2012 handily beat last season but it was far worse skiing in my mind.Brookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07064816506870745713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6168620747792092240.post-26786269984380478032016-04-03T18:58:29.383-06:002016-04-03T18:58:29.383-06:00It'a a bit sad to see the season winding down ...It'a a bit sad to see the season winding down and the sun having its way with the snow pack, but thinking back to last year (that red line!) I'm loving the winter we just had.

Snowbird was open on July 4th in 2005 & 2011. It doesn't look like we'll make it this year, but the odds look good for Memorial day.

I wish every year was like the 2005/11 years, but that would probably also mean the return of lake Bonneville... hmm, think of those lake-effect storms!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
