Ski Season Is Coming!

The dog days of summer are now here.  The latter half of July is the climatologically hottest period of the year in Salt Lake.  I call it nuclear summer.  High sun angle.  High temperatures.  High-based cumulus clouds that tempt us with rain (although there were a few spots that saw drops along the Wasatch Front yesterday evening).  Brutal.

How about a few photos today to remind us that we are cresting the hill and will soon be on the "downhill slide" to ski season.

  1. Laughed out loud. Fabulous. Thank you.

Have you been praying for more snow for this coming winter, and less wind?

Less wind is almost as important as more snow

    1. I miss those days too! We haven't had a snowpack like that in 5 years.

    2. Yes, in water years. Photo is from Christmas Eve 2010. I just took a quick look and the Alta-Collins snow depth was over 100". That's what you call a White Christmas.

    3. Definitely makes me feel "cooler" when overnight temps are still in the 80s, preventing any "window opening" to let fresh air into the house.
