Squeezing Snow Out of the Split

The latest GFS forecast produces persistent split flow over western North America, but the upper-level troughs in the southern branch of the jet are far enough north that the Wasatch may get some periods of snow later in the forecast period.

Details remain uncertain and right now these look to be fairly weak storms, but any freshening up will help.
